Market Update:
Mortgage qualifying rules are changing which is creating some buzz in the industry! Previously, buyers were able to qualify on a interest rate of 2.49% (for example). The new rules mean that buyers have to qualify using a higher rate, around 4.54% right now. This means that they will qualify for a lower purchase amount. They still GET the lower interest rate when they buy, but they must qualify with the higher rate. The purpose is to prevent people from maxing out their budget and being unable to afford payments if interest rates to up in the future. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months!
